Tumbling
Notes For All Rotary Rock Tumblers: Tumbled rocks display color and details not readily apparent on rough stones. To tumble stones: place rough rocks or minerals in the tumbling barrel, add a rough grit, and turn on the motor. Over the course of approximately 1 week, the grit wears off the rough edges, just like nature does over the course of many years. After the course grit has worn down the rough edges, the medium grit, fine grit, and polish are used in turn to complete the process and add a lustrous shine to the stones. The entire process can take between 3 to 5 weeks. |
